The "telephone" depth discussion is being used more and more as an effective way of generating hypotheses for testing at a later stage and for obtaining a "market" view of the issues being debated. It is particularly effective where respondents are likely to be busy and are geographically spread as we can schedule a call at an appropriate time for them.
This technique also provides considerable savings in cost and timing compared to depth interviews, yet there is no compromise on the quality of the eventual feedback.
